Episode #13 is in the Works

Hey everyone,

I have finally made it back from my tradeshow in Orlando. What a nightmare. I'll share all the details with you in episode #13 but let's just say that I pretty much spent more time in airports getting from SFO to Orlando and back than I did at Orlando. It will without a doubt be one of my better Alt-This rants!

We're going to get to work on putting the show together and getting it recorded but saying it's already 5:30PM pacific time on Saturday and I haven't slept in something like 24+ hours the show should miss the normal Saturday launch. Sorry about that!

Alt-This #0012 Show Notes 03/26/07

We're serious, if you're a tech chick and you're in Orlando this week please let us know, Jeff will buy you dinner and as much as you can drink! Please, help him max out his credit card!!

Again, sorry about the delay in getting you this episode, we sure hope you enjoy it!

Cheers,
Darren

Episode #12 Will Be Here Shortly

Hey everyone, I've made it back safe and sound from two weeks in the beautiful Florida sun. I watched a lot of baseball and had my fair share of good Amish food. I don't know much about the Amish way of life, but they seem to have superior knowledge on the secrets of baking the best pies in the world.

Episode #12 is in the can as they say, so I need to edit it up and get it posted sometime this evening. It was recorded on Thursday night, which was my travel day, so Jeff and I are both in rare form. Nothing like kicking back with some Tullamore Dew after traveling 1200 miles and talking a little tech!

Just wanted to let you know it's coming.. soon.. I promise!

-Darren

Alt-This #0007 Show Notes 2/23/07

Sorry about the delay in pushing this, the late night and drunken edition of Alt-This, out to the masses. I was planning on doing it Wednesday but we ended up getting our new carpet installed on that day. I swear, I think it would have just been easier to move. Since two new desks had to be built here in the Chicagoland offices of Alt-This (the 2nd bedroom / home office in my house) the PCs were not back up and running until late yesterday. On the bright side Jeff and I did record another episode late last night (Thursday) and expect to have episode #0008 out to you tomorrow!

  • Intro from the Pubcrawlers
  • Welcome to Episode #0007
  • Starting out doing shots and eating donuts
  • The Alt-This name and the double middle fingers of love
  • LG accuses Apple of ripping off the iPhone design
  • Microsoft Vista has some holes
  • Jeff's connection drops out and adds confusion to the mix
  • Microsoft delivers more fixes this month than ever before
  • Piracy concerns in Canada, Russia, China and Belize?
  • Study says 70% of websites are hackable
  • Viacom takes their ball from YouTube and offers their own videos
  • Charter quietly downgrading customers
  • Props to Kevin and Alex for showing us the way of mixing alcohol and tech
  • Why whiskey is better than beer
  • Free files of the show are Comodo Anti-Virus / Anti-Spam, POPFile and ServU FTP Server
  • Thanks for listening, tell a friend!!

And, if you think you're hearing things on this episode of Alt-This because it sounds like we were coming to you live from a bar, you're not. It's a concept I wanted to try to see if we could take our whiskey drinking attitude one step further and try to bring you into our own virtual bar with us as we do the show. I'm sure it would be called O'Neill's Irish Pub if we had to name it, and there would always be plenty of Irish whiskey around for me and plenty of bourbon for Jeff. Heck, there'd even be some Guiness and Smithwick's on tap for all of you non whiskey drinkers! Let us know if you like it or not and we'll know if we should keep the virtual bar theme or not!
